Course Content
Module 1: Getting Started with Drone Certification This module introduces students to RPAS certification in Canada, explains who needs a certificate, the differences between Basic and Advanced, and how the Basic exam works. By the end, students will clearly understand whether they need a certificate and what the exam process looks like.

Module 2: Canadian Air Law & Regulations. This module teaches students the core Canadian air laws that drone pilots must know, including classifications of airspace, flight restrictions, responsibilities, and penalties. By the end, students will be confident in the rules they must follow to legally operate a drone with a Basic RPAS Certificate.

Module 3: Airspace & Flight Restrictions This module teaches Basic RPAS pilots about Canadian airspace classes (A–G), the difference between controlled and uncontrolled airspace, how to use the NAV Drone app to plan flights safely, and flight restrictions such as NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and National Parks. By the end, students will confidently identify where they can legally operate and how to plan safe flights.

Module 4: RPAS Systems & Flight Operations his module teaches students the technical and operational aspects of drones, including components, pre-flight planning, normal flight procedures, emergency handling, and maintenance. By the end, students will be able to safely plan, execute, and maintain drone flights.

Module 6: Human Factors & Safety This module teaches Basic RPAS pilots about the human factors that influence safe drone operation, including situational awareness, decision-making, fitness, and risk management.
